Located outside Vancouver, Washington, As Thyme Goes By is a one-person, one-greenhouse operation dedicated to growing high-quality herb starts for the home gardener and spreading interest in the rewarding hobby of growing your own herbal seasonings, teas, medicines, and fragrances.
I have more than 20 years of experience in the gardening business, working for a feed and garden store since 1997. For the last 14 years, I served as their primary grower of tomato and pepper starts, and around 2015 I made my first foray into the wonderful world of herbs. Since then, my interest has only grown like a patch of mint plants gone wild.
Throughout history and around the world, people have cultivated and used an incredible variety of herbs, and though I'll never be able to grow them all, I like to try a couple new ones every year. If you find your interest gravitates toward the uncommon and unusual, we have something in common, and I hope you'll find a plant or two here that you never would have heard of or grown otherwise.
I'm not, in principle, a hardcore "organic" gardener, and organic certification isn't a hoop I want to jump through, but I really dislike working with hazardous materials. All my herb starts are grown with safe and non-toxic fertilizers and pest control products.
One final disclaimer: I grow herbs, but I am not an expert in herbal medicine. The information I may provide about traditional medicinal uses of herbs is for general educational purposes only, and absolutely not intended as medical advice. Please do your own research and consult a doctor or expert in herbal medicine before ingesting any new herb.
